So far this year, our class has read a book based on a true story called "Something For Joey". It is a book based on a college football player who's little brother, Joey, has leukemia. John Jr., the football player, continues to amaze fans as he plays harder and harder as Joey gets sicker.
The book we just finished is "The Giver". It's a book about a boy named Jonas, who is different from all the other kids his age. When things start "changing", he knows something is going on. When the day of the Assignments come, Jonas is selected for the most important job in this "perfect" community...The Receiver of Memory. As Jonas learns more and more about the community and The Giver, he learns more about Elsewhere, and what it would be like if things were different. Finally, they figure out a plan to change things...
